Later in my career, I got to work on a cool project for a company called iControl Networks. They make smart technology that helps people control things in their homes—like lights, alarms, and energy—right from a special touch screen.
I joined the team as a Senior Flash Engineer and Designer, which means I helped with both the art and the tech side of things. My main job was to redesign the home screen for their 7-inch touchscreen and to create a new Lights widget—a tool that made it easier for people to turn lights on and off, and control them in smart ways.
The goal was to make everything look nicer, work better, and be easier for everyone to use. The touchscreen officially launched in April 2014, and was such a success that it helped the company team up with bigger brands like ADT and Comcast to bring smart home tech to even more people.
